Valencia becomes the European epicenter of climate change

The Valencian Region is one of the members of Climate-KIC, the european initiative about climate change, and hosts its annual meeting on 30th and 31st at the Innovation Festival in Valencia City.

One of the European programmes of this initative, Pioneers into Practice,  brings together more than 230 european professionals as a previous activity in the Annual meeting of Climate-KIC.

Pioneers into Practice is coordinated at european level by the Valencian Region and each year is achieving better results about participation and business ideas.

Pioneers into Practice (PiP), is a leading professional knowledge development mobility and trainning programme  of Climate-KIC, for creating a new generation of professionals to drive and lead the transition to a low carbon economy, for achieving the european goals 20-20-20 and to ensure that Europe will benefit with new technologies, increase the business development and create new employment niches.

The PiP programme aims to create a new generation of entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs and enablers with the capacity to understand and manage the new type of innovation required to address the challenges posed by climate change and to lead  the transition to a low carbon economy.

These professionals with a multidisciplinary profile are provided from different sectors and professional areas, from a small companies or from business associations, a research department  from an University, a City Council or any other public body, although entrepreneurs. This variaty of profiles is what gives to the programme a huge richeness and the mobility  methodology that uses, the regional and international placements, and “Transition thinking” methodology, to do the best around all this concentrated talent.

Coinciding with the annual meeting of the Climate-KIC, which this year will be held in Valencia at Palacio de Congresos, on 30th and 31st October, all the pioneers of the participating regions will have the oportunity to meet together, to discuss their own experiences, projects ideas, to create synergies with other pioneers, partners and organitations that they didn’t had the opportunity  to run into before, and an international professional interaction and international, which leads in a further step in  the development of a new low carbon economy.

The appointment will be held on the 29th October in an incomparable landscape according with the vision of Climate-Kic, the Botanical Garden of Valencia, where more than 230 pioneers and their own mentors and coaches  will meet there, in one of their last activities of the year.

The Pioneers into Practice Programme was launched in 2010 with 50 participants from 6 european regions and has increased around 230 pioneers from 12 countries across Europe including the outreach regions. The countries are: United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Poland,  Netherlands, Ireland, Portugal, Finland,  Romania and Slovenia.

The Valencian Region is very active on PiP Programme with a large number of pioneers, host placement offers and key performances indicators as results of their work.

Regarding the results obtained in the last edition of 2013,  some of the figures are as follows,  about the 46 new successes cases and/or the business models that were created, 17 out of them were valencians, and the agreements and/or exchange of knowledge or good practices, around half of them were also valencians (20 of 42 total).
