The CoSuDS project joints Climathon Castellón under the challenge Renaturing cities

The second collaborative session of the CoSuDS project included a group discussion on the vision at city level and definition of solutions for the pilot district.

The second collaborative session of the CoSuDS Project was held on October 28 in Castellón. The CoSuDS project (Collaborative transition towards sustainable urban drainage: Making it happen at district scale) aims at developing tools to support the transition towards sustainable and efficient stormwater management in cities and promoting solutions based on sustainable drainage systems (SuDS).

During this session, which involved 37 participants related to urban development and water management of the pilot city, Castellón, (including government, academia, business sector, organizations and citizens), the group worked on establishing the vision for the pilot city and on the definition of solutions for the pilot district, including the use of different SuDS.

This working session was organized in parallel to the Climathon event, a Climate-KIC initiative that, in this edition, accounted for 59 cities working simultaneously on different climate-related challenges. Participant cities included London, Milan, Melbourne, Toronto, and Valencia, among others.

The CoSuDS project is a 6-month Pathfinder project, co-funded by Climate-KIC, and coordinated by the Research Institute of Water and Environmental Engineering (IIAMA) of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), within the Urban Transitions Theme. The CoSuDS Project is one of the supported projects in 2016 to accelerate innovative actions for climate change mitigation and adaptation. The four partners which integrate the CoSuDS consortium are the Polytechnic University of Valencia, the Valencian Institute of Building, Castellón City Council and Valencia InnDEA Foundation.

The project includes 3 collaborative sessions. The objective of these sessions is to analyze needs, challenges and potential solutions for a pilot district in Castellón.
