Within the framework of collaboration that began last year, Nobel and prestigious Professor Edward S. Rubin met with Jose-Luis Muñoz, Director General of Climate-KIC Spain, at the headquarters of the Botanical Garden of Valencia.

Rubin is Professor of Engineering and Public Policy and Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University and is also the Alumni Professor Chair in Environmental Engineering and Science. But the highest recognition he received was in 2007 when he was awarded by the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to increase knowledge on climate change.

In particular, he was the lead author and coordinator of the 2005 special report on carbon dioxide capture and storage published by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Advisory Committee.

In this meeting, in addition to its participation in the course for professionals in climate change “Spotlight“, whose Spanish edition will be held in Valencia on 19 and 20 October, other issues were discussed such as those innovation strategies on climate change that can lead to a greater impact and are aligned with the Climate-KIC strategy.

Regarding innovation, Rubin said: “There is a history of innovations, first it becomes cheaper, it becomes more effective and efficient, and depending on the technology, it can be made more compact. There are reasons for optimism from the technological point of view, but you have to be patient. The important thing is that the process takes place, that it starts”.

Muñoz, pointed out that “the training that is being carried out in Climate-KIC boosts the innovation to reach the market as soon as possible, so that society can benefit from these advances.”
This course, where Rubin is one of the invited lecturers, Spotlight and entitled “Advanced business models for climate-friendly technologies and innovation”, has the registration deadline until September 30th.
