The Climate-KIC Valencia’s Start-ups won 3 of the 4 awards of the Climate Champions Awards

27 November 2015.-Last Thursday in Valencia there was a meeting between the representatives of about fifty green companies to work on the challenges and opportunities in this sector in view of the global climate change summit taking place in Paris from November the 30rd to December 11th.

The European Green Business Network – Ecopreneur-, through its Spanish partners, – Greenbiz-organized this event at the UPV in Valencia, with the support of Inndea, Avaesen and Climate-KIC. Throughout the week, among other countries, they have been held, in Spain, the “ecopreneurs days for the Climate 2015” in Madrid, Barcelona and Seville.

At the end of Friday, we will know the Spanish representative, among all the winners, selected for the Climate Summit in Paris.

The day was divided into two parts, one of co-creation where were analysed the problems you may find in the territory, in relation to mitigation and adaptation, identifying challenges and proposing possible solutions; the second part was a competition of “pitches” between pre-selected start-ups. The first mitigation’s award went to “ENCICLE bicimensajería”, as they prefer to define themselves, while the second to the young company NAVLANDIS formed inside Climate-KIC Valencia Accelerator, whose CEO is also a participant in the “Pioneers into Practice ” program. With this proposal of folding’s shipping container, they showed the progress made this year, and the maturity of their project.

In the adaptation area, the two awards were also given to two other companies that have been formed and accelerated within the context of Climate-KIC Valencia. The first winner was, APA WATER, for its disinfection system that succeed in purifying pool’s water without using an element such as chlorine. The second was awarded to BIO-CE and to its reuse of waste system for biomass.

Countries like Germany, France and the Netherlands have also joined this initiative just before the UN summit on Climate Change showing another opportunity to reach a global agreement that bind all the countries involved.

It will be the Valencian Company ENCICLE, the one which will represent Spain at the World Summit COP21 within the “Ecopreneurs for the Climate 2015” program.
