A 3-day professional training programme for associate and full professors

In this short course, we will provide you with skills and knowledge about how to apply design thinking methods and an entrepreneurial perspective to gain a more innovative perspective on your research.

Creating high societal impact with research

Our society is facing challenging and complex problems that need to be urgently addressed. There’s no doubt that scientists are key to solving these issues. However, if you want to valorise your knowledge by developing and implementing innovative solutions, you need support from governments, commercial businesses and research partners.

The Lean Professor Program supports senior scientists to turn their research into value and have a high impact on society. Start your transition, become a Lean Scientist!

Practice-based Learning

During three energetic days you will get inspired by international speakers, engage in dynamic workshops, and together with professional peers you will practice new tools and skills to create a business case out of your own research.

The programme is balanced over 2 full days and presenting your work on the morning of the last day:

Day 1   The innovation process: where science and business meet

Day 2   How Lean are you? A different perspective on your research

Day 3   Pitch! The secret to presenting your ideas powerfully

  • Inspiring and interactive talks by entrepreneurials professors Cees Buisman (Wageningen UR, The Netherlands) and José Peiro (president of IAAP)
  • A new perspective on knowledge transfer: the Innopreneur – by Ismael Abel (Founder The Innovation Network) & Victoria Gomez
  • Interesting workshops on design thinking methods
  • Ample opportunity to network with professional peers, getting and giving feedback on each other’s work and ideas during the course
  • Lovely dinners and ambiance in the historic city of Valencia, early Autumn

Deadline: The deadline for applications is 18th September 2015.

Costs: The Lean Professor Program is free of charge for senior scientists affiliated to Climate-KIC universities and outreach regions. This includes course materials, refreshments and lunch, a course dinner on Day 1 and Day 2, and hotel accommodation with breakfast. Travel costs are not covered.
