{"id":25996,"date":"2020-01-30T15:32:16","date_gmt":"2020-01-30T15:32:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spain.climate-kic.org\/?post_type=news&#038;p=25996"},"modified":"2020-01-30T15:32:16","modified_gmt":"2020-01-30T15:32:16","slug":"eit-climate-kic-ceo-selected-as-a-top-expert-to-advise-the-european-commission","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/spain.climate-kic.org\/en\/news\/eit-climate-kic-ceo-selected-as-a-top-expert-to-advise-the-european-commission\/","title":{"rendered":"Climate KIC CEO selected as a top expert to advise the European Commission"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"intro\">Yesterday, the European Commission announced Climate KIC CEO Kirsten Dunlop as one of <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/transparency\/regexpert\/index.cfm?do=groupDetail.groupDetail&amp;groupID=3693&amp;NewSearch=1&amp;NewSearch=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">16 experts<\/a> that will provide independent advice on how future EU research and innovation policy can best support sustainable development and the Von Der Leyen Commission\u2019s priorities. The chair of this Economic and Societal Impact of Research and Innovation (ESIR) expert group is Sandrine Dixson-Decl\u00e8ve, Co-president of the Club of Rome.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The experts cover sustainability subjects from angles such as social and ecologic transitions, sustainable development measurement, innovation policies, higher education, youth, digitalisation, circular economy, governance issues and citizens\u2019 engagement. Most notably, they will engage their relevant user communities to establish an \u2018ESIR Community\u2019 to help co-design the group\u2019s activities and outputs.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Mariya Gabriel said:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThese experts will address the most pressing societal challenges, and reach out to key players in the field of sustainability. I am confident that they will inspire us with new and fresh insights on how Europe can best design and implement a forward-looking research and innovation policy.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Chair of ESIR Sandrine Dixson-Decl\u00e8ve said:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe establishment of ESIR is a testament to the Commission\u2019s commitment to address purpose-driven research and innovation with a focus on people, planet, and prosperity. I commend the Commission\u2019s future orientation and openness to working with global experts to help deliver a transformative EU research and innovation policy and Horizon Europe to ensure they are truly innovative, impactful and 21st century proof.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Based on a demand-driven approach, the group will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Co-design policy briefs to provide European and national policy-makers with strategic advice on R&amp;I and sustainability<\/li>\n<li>Organise outreach activities to fully engage with relevant stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>Foster policy experimentation to find new and more impactful innovative public policies<\/li>\n<li>Propose solution oriented-policy initiatives that address current grand challenges<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The experts are appointed in their personal capacity, and have been selected on the basis of the call addressed to individuals for the establishment of a database of prospective independent experts to assist Commission services with tasks in connection to Horizon 2020, the EU research and innovation programme\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/transparency\/regexpert\/index.cfm?do=news.open_doc&amp;id=333\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(OJ 2013\/C 342\/03, 22\/11\/2013)<\/a>.
